Liberachy… I mean Leibster!🙀

I am oh so late to the party. I was nominated waaayyyy back in late 2016… Oops 😁

Big, squishy thank you’s to Tia over at tiiasays for nominating me for a Leibster award! 😱 I know, I know, I’m cack at actually getting down and jiggy with a response, but my little life got a little busy! In amongst a few changes that took time to get used to, I was also in rehearsals for a show (blog post about said fancy pants show >> here <<) and had six different scripts to learn, on top of all my normal, daily idiocies. Plus I have been cleaning. Like serious, Kim and Aggy style cleaning. I wouldn’t say I’m a hoarder, but I did find some cassette tapes, a dial up modem and some old Harry Potter posters with chunks missing (RIP Dobbie’s right ear.)

Q & A

Q: Do you tend to regret things a lot? Or do you believe that everything happens for a reason?

A: I have forehead smacking moments that I like to block out of my memory and pretend didn’t happen, and there has been the odd opportunity I’ve kicked myself for letting pass me by, but on the whole, I think life changing things happen for a reason.

Q: If you could change one thing about your blogging experience, what would it be?

A: That I went quids in earlier and didn’t randomly stop for years in between.

Q: If you could only use one beauty product for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: Probably some sort of cleanser to help my horribly acne prone skin, but make up wise, probably concealer… those dark circles wont colour correct themselves!

Q: One word that sums up your 2016?

A: A little late on this one (It’s all me. I know, I’m a bad blogger) but probably ‘trying.’

Q: Do you like to read? If so, what’s one book you want to read by the end of 2017?

A: I LOVE BOOKS. I love reading. I’ve been attempting to read ‘The Master and Margarita’ by Mikhail Bulgakov for a while, so I’d like to finish that, but I also recently purchased a book by Bradley Somer called ‘Fishbowl: What the Goldfish Saw as He Fell From the 27th Floor.’ Which gal wants to know what the goldfish saw? This gal, right here.

Q: How long have you been blogging for, and why did you first start out?

A: I can’t remember exactly, but I started when I was at University and was having an awful time. I wanted something to focus on and writing is my absolute solace. Yet, things got harder and I was too scared to dive in, so I ended up stopping for years, letting the blog collect cobwebs, until I finally felt fit enough to start again.

Q: What’s one travel essential that you cannot board a plane without?

A: My iPod. Passport and a valid ticket for the flight don’t count, right?

Q: Have you ever been to a Broadway/West End show? Any favourites or shows you’d like to see?

A: I have. Theatre makes up a huge chunk of my life and I’m lucky enough to have seen shows both on Broadway and in the West End. I think my favourite shows have been The Book of Mormon (it gets me every time), The Play That Goes Wrong (because… I can relate) and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (dat set doe 😍)

Q: What’s the one outfit you wear most often?

A: In reality, my pyjamas. However, I am partial to a comfy tee with some sort of obnoxious print on it (my current fave is a boxy fit black tee from Daisy Street with Blah Blah Blah embroidered onto the pocket), ripped jeans and DMs. I mean, I’m too clumsy to not wear something sturdy with a lot of grip on my feet.

Q: Out of the posts you’ve written, which one is your favourite?

A: There are a few that I love. I love my Alice in Wonderland tea party one, just because I put so much effort into the whole thing; the party and the blog post. Out of my more recent ones, however, my favourites are the Winter Wonderland post, because it’s a memory I hold very dear to my heart, and also the Formal Letter to my Heart, because it was something different for me and I am proud of the way it turned out.

Q: Do you have a favourite type of blog post or YouTube video to read/watch?

A: I love more casual posts, or ones that have some sort of narrative rhythm to them. Kind of like vlogs, story times, updates, diary style ones. Maybe it’s because I’m nosey, maybe it’s because I just like story telling, but I feel like I’m reading a note from a friend and feel more connected as a viewer/reader. I feel there is a raw honesty to them, which I can relate to, and I enjoy hearing the author’s voice come through in their work, whether it be through writing style or editing.

My Questions For You:

Do you have any pets? If so, what?

My Life Online

On with the facts!

1. I was once offered the opportunity to photograph one of my favourite bands live, and of course I said ‘yes’ (then internally screamed and flapped my hands before having an ‘I am not worthy’ crisis whilst cleaning my camera lens’ to within an inch of their life). I photographed ‘The 1975’ on behalf of a venue and it was, honestly, one of the most exciting and nerve-wracking things I have ever plucked up the courage to do. I’ve still got my AAA pass and everything. What a nerd.

2. I have never broken a bone… unless you count my little toe that I stubbed whilst swimming. Funny story… I panicked in the rapids because I turned to talk to my friend and found there was a poo chasing us round. I swam away from the floating turd so frantically that I smashed my toe on the floor and it was a little, purple, chipolata for days.

3. I have a degree. Yes, I actually have a first class honours degree. Getting it was one of the biggest struggles I have ever faced and when I finally got to don that cap and gown and run around like a Dementor in heels, it was one the proudest moments of my life. It was also the hottest day of the year, there was zero air con and my Nan’s mobility scooter broke down so I had to push it from location to location. Well, it couldn’t have gone smoothly could it?

4. I am trained to handmake lace. Bobbin lace is a dying art form. Basically, it’s the manual way of making all that fancy, frilly stuff that lines table cloths, handkerchiefs, even shirts and dresses. It’s fiddly and laborious but has the potential to look pretty swaggy (note to self: never, EVER say the term ‘swaggy’ again.)

5. Whilst at school, I got a U in a cooking exam. I managed to cause so much chaos. You know in comedy films when someone turns on a blender and it explodes, the contents covering the ceiling and dripping from the walls, and everyone just stands there in silence wondering what just happened? Yeah, I lived through that.

6. I once went on a month long road trip from Toronto, Canda to the Gulf of Mexico, USA and back again. It was one of the biggest adventures I have ever partaken in and was worth every minute. I just wish I could have spent longer exploring each state I stopped in and more than two days at Disney World! I’d love to do it again now I’m older.

7. I am a massive memory hoarder. I keep all of my ticket stubs and programmes from shows and exhibits. I have a scrap book that is almost full of tickets, receipts, score cards, boarding passes, entry passes, wristbands, etc. from all different kinds of events and adventures. The earliest stubs in there are Legoland tickets from 2001.

Happy blogging everyone!
