‘Ello you beautiful lot!
A short but sweet one today. As it is National Roald Dahl Day in the UK, I thought I would share some exciting theatre news of my own!
Roald Dahl is one of the most sought after British Children’s writers, writing novels such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, George’s Marvelous Medicine, The Witches and Fantastic Mr. Fox, but none so loved as The BFG.
Possibly his most notable story, The BFG tells the tale of little, orphan Sophie who one night spies a giant, blowing dreams into the heads of sleeping children. The giant kidnaps her and takes her back to giant country, but she discovers he is not as scary as she thought, but instead is in fact a big, friendly giant… The BFG! However, there are some not so nice giants about, who eat children! When all else has failed, Sophie and The BFG enlist the help of Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of England, to stop the ghastly giants from completing their dastardly deeds once and for all.
I have gone through the motions and can finally say, with a giant smile on my face, that I will be joining the theatre cast of The BFG as The Queen of England (who, in real life, just became the longest reigning monarch in history), for Nineteen12 productions!
I am so incredibly excited to start working on this show and especially with this wonderful, hands on, all access, theatre company!
